Coach Becker,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well! It is not often that I write a letter as email has normally dominated our society.  However, I wanted to personalize this message the best that I can to illustrate my sincere appreciation that I have for you and the rest of the coaches at Falmouth.

Growing up, I coached Zach for several years until I thought he would respond and develop faster with the direction of another coach. During those formidable years, it was evidently clear the impact both positive and negative that a coach can have on a player. With the talent you are able to put on the field in the Cape, it would be easy as a coach to simply "let them play".  Obviously this could not be farther from the truth as I personally witnessed the impact that your coaching had on my son.

Please know that I greatly appreciate the interest, focus, and encouragement given to Zach this summer!  It has given him a renewed sense of accomplishment and confidence.  Who knows what the future holds, but please know that your work with him did not go unnoticed and is has positively changed his career at A&M and beyond!

Best Regards,

Collins DeLoach

Head Coach, Wallace-Dothan Community College (AL)

I first met Brett in 2013 after he recruited me to play for the collegiate summer team he was coaching, the Topeka Golden Giants.  I had just finished my Freshman year at a junior college and struggled at the plate all year.  Brett took me under his wing and we spent countless hours in the cages working and talking hitting.  That summer I regained my confidence and had great success as a hitter. This led to me earning numerous All-Conference and All-Region awards in the next three years, headlined by an All-American award my senior year at Columbus State.

Since meeting Brett, I have not only played for him but also coached alongside him with the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League.  I can honestly say that Brett is the reason I had such a successful career as a college baseball player.  He particularly turned my career around offensively, but he also had prolific positive effects mentally.  I have witnessed the countless other players he has helped as well, from both standpoints of player and coach.  He is the most knowledgeable hitting coach I have ever met.  He not only knows hitting, but also has the ability to translate information so that every individual player understands what he is trying to get them to achieve and why.  I highly recommend any player, regardless of age or skill level, to reach out to Brett for any guidance as a baseball player.

“Coach Becker and I were introduced to each other in the Cape Cod Baseball League when I played for Falmouth in 2019. After a frustrating sophomore spring at Texas A&M, I was looking to make strides towards becoming one of the most consistent hitters in the country and a threat at the plate. After working with Coach Becker the entire summer in the Cape, he single-handedly did just that. He helped me to understand my swing like no one has ever done before both mechanically and mentally. To show his dedication to his players, he would train with all of our hitters day-in and day-out to make sure everyone was in sync before every single game that summer. The things I can remember Coach Becker telling us the most is, “Don’t try to do too much” and “Have fun with it” to help give us a sense of calmness and confidence to play the game it was meant to be played. As a result from everything Coach Becker has taught me, I would go onto win one of the most prestigious awards a hitter can achieve in the Cape Cod Baseball League, the Thurman Munson Batting Champion Award. I am forever grateful for the relationship Coach Becker and I have built over this past year and I am looking forward to many more years of him being a part of my baseball career.”

During the summer of 2018 I had the privilege of playing in the Cape Cod League for the Falmouth Commodores. It was there that I met Coach Brett. Throughout the summer, Coach Brett provided valuable insight pertaining to the game and my preparation. We spent a lot of time in the cages working on hitting the ball with authority to both sides of the field. I led the Cape in home runs that summer and there is no doubt that the time and expertise that Coach Brett shared with me played a large role in my success. I definitely grew as a hitter and overall as a player and would wholeheartedly recommend that anyone take advantage of any opportunity to work with and learn from Coach Brett.

Coach Becker and I first met in my high school weight room in Rossville KS, he knew that at the time I didn't have the skill set to play at that next level, but he didn't care about that. He saw my potential as and athlete and person and he took a chance on me. Something that I will forever be grateful for. We were only together for a year, but playing for him was the best time I have had playing this sport. We spent extra hours working and he molded me into a 1st team Jayhawk West performer my freshman season and if you would of seen me in the fall of my freshman year, no one thought that was possible whatsoever. He taught me how the game is suppose to be played, one thing he always used to say is "just go play, have fun and compete and the rest will fall into place" and that's how I play the game to this day. I am forever grateful for crossing paths with him in life and will hold onto that relationship for the rest of my life.

Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week (2023)

6th round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays (184th overall)

In the summer of 2021 I had the opportunity to play for the Falmouth Commodores and be coached by Coach Becker. After coming off a disappointing freshman season at the University of Oklahoma, I went into Falmouth with an open mind. It was the first day at practice where coach Becker and I were introduced to each other. He asked me if there was anything specific I wanted to work on and I said “Not really, but I’m open to work on anything that you see in my swing.” So the rest of the summer before every game, we worked on certain parts of my swing. Coach Becker uses multiple drills that helped me tune my swing into hitting well over .300 for most of the 2021 Cape Cod season. I can say the most beneficial drill I did with Coach Becker was using the HammerGrip that he invented. In the short time I got to work with Coach Becker my mechanics and mental game both improved greatly. This past summer I can not thank Coach Becker enough for putting in the time to work with me and my teammates. I am forever grateful the relationship that me and Coach Becker have developed and I will continue to work with him throughout the rest of my career.
